ELECTRONIC COMMERCE SERVICES POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to establish how West Virginia University departments, units, and organizations can accept secure payments, donations, or purchases via the Internet.
This policy applies to all University employees, including those on the regional campuses.
West Virginia University departments, units, and organizations require the ability to securely accept payments, donations, or purchases for products or services they wish to offer on their web sites over the Internet. In accordance with State law (WV §12-3A-6), all University employees utilizing the internet for acceptance of payment must utilize the State Treasurer’s Office (STO) system for method of payment. As such, the STO Electronic Government Application must be completed for all e-commerce activity. This application identifies the general ledger fund for deposit. This application is to be completed by the department, sent to Cash Management for review and signed by the Director of Research and Tax Accounting.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPLEMENTATION
All employees are responsible for supporting this policy. It is the responsibility of the dean or director to implement and maintain this policy within the department, unit, or organization. Research and Tax Accounting, at 293-4002 or P.O. Box 6001, is available to answer questions or provide additional information regarding this policy.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR INTERPRETATION
The responsibility for interpretation of this policy rests with Research and Tax Accounting, West Virginia University.
